As solid an A-tier weapon in the gun meta for Warzone and MW3 alike, the MTZ-762 battle rifle is nothing short of a total beast (especially when you kit it out with a powerhouse loadout). As solid an A-tier weapon in the gun meta for Warzone and MW3 alike, the MTZ-762 battle rifle is nothing short of a total beast (especially when you kit it out with a powerhouse loadout).
Dare we say this kind of loadout will make the MTZ-762 a strong competitor to the likes of the Kastov 762? Yes, actually, we do dare.
It’s not been long since this rifle’s release in November 2023, but we already can’t imagine Warzone without it! The MTZ may have spent most of its time on the fringes of the meta, but we’re here today to turn it into a reliable top-tier choice worthy of its monstrous TTK.

If you want to make maximum use of the MTZ-762 and its enemy-shredding power, you’ll first need to tame that ragey recoil. Toward that end, the VT-7 Spiritfire Suppressor muzzle is an absolute must – it’ll boost your damage range, recoil control, and bullet velocity, while keeping you off enemy radars. It’s the definition of a win-win.
The same goes for the MTZ-Precision Blackthorn Barrel, which cranks up bullet velocity and range to terrifying levels, while cutting back on the 762’s aiming idle sway.
We’re going for a boost to power and control here, but if you feel like you need more control than power, try the MTZ Clinch Pro Barrel instead.
The Bruen Heavy Support grip pairs perfectly with this muzzle and barrel choice to reinforce the control you’ll have over your new-and-improved MTZ-762. Or you could go for the EXF Close Quarters Assault stock instead, if you prefer. Up to you.
For our money, no optic goes better with this battle rifle than the Corio Eagleseye 2.5x. It’s a surefire way to give you the scope you need for those long-distance headshots. But hey, if you prefer a different optic then go nuts, we won’t stop you!
Lastly, with the 30-round mag on board, you’ll have plenty of bullets for everyone you meet.
Perks and equipment
Double Time is practically a must-have perk for any pro MTZ-762 build – the buff it gives to your tac sprint duration and refresh time is tough to argue with! Mountaineer might surprise you, but once you’ve got a feel for how much more spritely it makes you to have that post-landing movement penalty removed (plus the bonus fall damage resistance), you’ll realize why it’s a top choice.
Quick Fix will keep your survivability high, powering you up with a sweet AF health regen, and High Alert works a treat for keeping you fed with valuable intel while you’re running and gunning down the enemy.
If you’re looking for other perk options, try Sleight of Hand if you want a faster reload for your MTZ-762, or Tempered for a major buff to your armor. As for a backup primary, we suggest a strong SMG like the WSP Swarm to complete your loadout.
When it comes to equipment, it’s all about personal preferences. Still, we’ve found frags and smokes to be highly effective.
FAQs
Is MTZ-762 good in Warzone?
Yes, the MTZ-762 is considered a very strong battle rifle in Warzone these days. It fires powerful 7.62 rounds with high bullet velocity, making it effective at mid-to-long range. With a properly built loadout, its recoil becomes manageable and it can reliably drop opponents, even at a distance. Many players use it as a go-to if they want more punch than a standard assault rifle while still keeping a relatively fast fire rate.
That said, it does require a good setup and careful aim — it’s less forgiving than lightweight rifles in close-quarters, but excels when used with distance and control in mind.
What is a Battle Rifle in Warzone?
A battle rifle in Warzone is a gun that sits between traditional assault rifles and sniper rifles:
- It uses heavier, high-caliber ammunition (often 7.62 or similar), delivering stronger per-shot damage than typical assault rifles.
- It generally trades some mobility or rate-of-fire for higher damage, better range, and stronger hit-power.
- It’s meant for players who want more stopping power at mid-to-long range without fully committing to a sniper-style rifle.
Battle rifles are ideal if you prefer precision, longer-range combat, and higher lethality per bullet rather than run-and-gun speed.
What is the best Battle Rifle in Warzone right now?
The best battle rifle in Warzone right now is the MTZ-762, thanks to its strong mid-to-long-range damage, fast bullet velocity, and overall versatility when built for recoil control. It hits harder than most ARs while still staying manageable.
If you want alternatives, the SO-14 is a great flexible option that works well in both semi-auto and faster fire modes, making it ideal for players who want adaptability. The TAQ-V is another strong choice, offering high damage with more controlled, tactical handling.
These three stand out as the strongest battle rifles in the current Warzone meta.
