It’s got stiff competition in the meta, but the Swarm has been growing in popularity since its release in November 2023, and with a prime loadout (like this one), we’ll have your WSP Swarm flying with the best of the very best.
Some would argue it’s already claimed the crown of close-range combat champion in Warzone (as well as snagged the nifty nerf-dodger title), but hey, there’s always room for improvement!

As with any good SMG, recoil is a wild bee sting with the WSP Swarm, and you’re going to want to bring it under control, fast. Thanks to the L4R muzzle and the WSP Reckless-90 Long barrel, you’ll do exactly that, with the added bonus of boosting your bullet velocity and range, too.
Most top WSP Swarm builds agree on using the Mk.3 Reflector optic, since it’ll compensate for the Swarm’s slightly lame iron sights, but if there’s another optic that takes your fancy, go for it.
The FSS Fortress Heavy Stock is great for one last blast of extra control, but you could also sub in something like the Marauder rear grip if you prefer.
Some might suggest the 50 Round Mag to round out the Swarm’s loadout, but we prefer a bit more bite with our bark. The 100 Round Drum is a much better choice, especially for those times you need to unleash the destruction of the full hive in your enemy’s face.
Perks and equipment
Since the WSP Swarm is a peppy little spitfire, you’re going to want to kit yourself out with perks that play to speed. No perks do that better than Double Time and Sleight of Hand, which, combined, will give you the fastest reloads and the swiftest movement speeds possible.
On the same lines, we’re opting for Tempered as perk number 3 in this Swarm build, since it’ll get you armored up as quick as possible, too. Combo that trio of perks with an ultimate like High Alert and you’ll be the undisputed master of your environment.
We like semtex for a strong lethal choice, and stun ‘nades to back them up, but the choice on equipment is yours. Go with what suits your playstyle best.
Pair all this with a second primary like the MTZ-762 battle rifle, an AR like the Kastov 545, or a sniper like the Signal 50. Basically, anything to give you the long-range death-dealing power you need to round this out.
FAQs
Is WSP Swarm good in MW3 / Warzone?
The WSP Swarm is decent — and highly situational. It excels when fights are close up because its time-to-kill (TTK) is very fast and it offers good mobility for an SMG. However, it also has drawbacks: recoil is substantial, and damage/range drop-off make it unreliable at medium or long distances.
If you like aggressive, close-quarters combat (building clears, tight spaces, fast pushes), WSP Swarm can be very effective. For more balanced or longer-range play, its limitations become more noticeable.
WSP-9 vs WSP Swarm — which is better?
It largely depends on the fight range:
- WSP Swarm: Better if you expect close-range gunfights (under ~6–7 meters). Its TTK is among the fastest at that proximity, so it can often win initial exchanges in tight spaces.
- WSP-9: Generally more reliable at slightly longer ranges compared to the Swarm. It handles recoil and range better, making it a more balanced choice overall when you might engage at varied distances.
So: choose WSP Swarm for aggressive, close-quarters play; choose WSP-9 if you want versatility or expect mid-range encounters.
What is the best SMG in Warzone right now?
The best SMGs in Warzone right now are the ones that combine fast time-to-kill, strong close-range power, and good handling. The Jackal PDW is currently one of the strongest overall. It delivers extremely fast kills, great mobility, and reliable control, making it a top pick for aggressive players.
If you want alternatives, the LC10 is a versatile, easy-to-use option that performs well from close to mid-range; the C9 is a stable, beginner-friendly SMG with smooth recoil; and the Dresden 9mm is a high-RPM, close-quarters monster if you can handle its recoil.
