If you’re trying to complete the Fortnite hit hero practice targets quest, you’re not alone. This mission is part of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3’s story challenges, and it has proven to be one of the more confusing and occasionally frustrating tasks. Players are required to locate and hit practice targets at various hero training outposts around the island, but the quest doesn't always work as expected.

This Fortnite guide will walk you through everything you need to know: how to complete the quest, where to find the hero training outposts, and what to do if the targets aren’t working.

What is the Fortnite hit hero practice targets quest?

The Fortnite hit hero practice targets quest challenges players to visit three different hero training outposts and strike the practice targets located there. Each outpost contains one target, and you must hit targets at three unique locations to complete the objective.

The Fortnite hit hero practice targets quest is part of a broader narrative arc, requiring players to interact with specific in-game objects and explore key areas on the map. It’s designed to push exploration and movement, but it can be frustrating if the targets don’t function properly.

How to hit hero practice targets in Fortnite

    To complete this quest:

    • Locate a hero training outpost on the map (locations listed below).
    • Find the hero practice target, which appears as a small white object with two blue circular targets sticking out of it.

    • Use any weapon to strike the target—this includes the Pickaxe, firearms, or any item from Chapter 6 Season 3.
    • Once hit, the target should spin or animate, confirming that the action registered.
    • Repeat the process at two additional, different outposts.

It’s important to note that hitting the same target more than once will not progress the quest. You need to visit and interact with three separate targets across different outposts.

All Fortnite hero training practice locations

There are five hero training outposts on the island. You only need to visit three, but knowing all five gives you flexibility, especially if certain locations are contested or glitchy.
Here are the hero training outpost locations:

    1. East of the Resistance Base
    2. South of Supernova Academy
    3. North of Shining Span
    4. East of Utopia City
    5. South of Foxy Floodgate

These outposts are typically marked by small underground bunkers. They may not be visible from the Battle Bus, so drop in nearby and move toward the quest icon (a white diamond with an exclamation mark).

Is Fortnite hit hero practice targets quest not working?

Unfortunately, this quest is buggy for many players. Common problems include:

    • Targets not appearing at the outpost

    Credit: r/FortNiteBR
    • Invisible targets
    • Targets not spinning or reacting when hit
    • Progress not registering, even after hitting them

    4 ways to fix it

    1. Restart the match: Sometimes reloading into a new game causes the targets to appear.
    2. Try a different mode: Players have had better results in Team Rumble, which allows more exploration time.
    3. Visit alternate locations: If one outpost doesn't work, try another.
    4. Wait it out: In past seasons, Epic Games has auto-completed broken quests for all players. This happened during the "Trials of Morgan Myst" event and may occur again.

The Fortnite hit hero practice targets quest is a fun but sometimes frustrating objective that requires precision, timing, and a bit of luck. With five hero training outposts available and only three needed to complete the challenge, persistence and planning are key. Even if bugs occur, staying patient and retrying in new matches usually helps. And if all else fails, Epic is known to fix or auto-complete quests that aren't functioning properly.
