League of Legends has many sustain stats, but omnivamp is still one of the easiest to misunderstand. Many players confuse it with lifesteal, and others are not sure whether it works on spells, area damage, or item effects. It is important to know the difference because omnivamp can change how a champion trades, farms, and survives in longer fights. In this guide, we explain everything you need to know about omnivamp in League of Legends!

What is omnivamp in League of Legends?

Omnivamp is a healing stat that restores health when you deal damage. In the current version of League of Legends, omnivamp applies at full value in normal cases, which makes it much more straightforward than before. That said, Riot still places limits on some damage types. Pets, damage-over-time effects, and area-of-effect spells against minions only heal for 33% of the usual value.

In simple terms, omnivamp rewards champions that stay active in fights and keep dealing damage. It can help in lane trades, skirmishes, and teamfights, but it is not equally strong in every situation. If you clear waves with AoE abilities, for example, the healing is weaker than many players expect.

What's the difference between omnivamp and lifesteal?

The easiest way to think about it is this: lifesteal is more tied to attack-based damage, while omnivamp works with a broader range of damage sources. That wider coverage is what makes omnivamp valuable on champions that mix attacks and spells or rely heavily on ability damage.

    Does omnivamp heal off abilities?

Yes, omnivamp does heal off abilities. That is one of its main strengths. If your champion deals damage with spells, omnivamp can return health from that damage. Still, there are two limits you should know. First, some spell damage against minions heals less, especially AoE and damage-over-time effects. Second, Smite and Ignite no longer trigger omnivamp at all.

This means omnivamp is often better in champion fights than in waveclear. It can feel better on spell-heavy fighters and hybrid damage users, but it will not turn every ability cast into large healing.

    How omnivamp works in games

Omnivamp is strongest when you deal steady damage over time in actual fights. Champions that cast often, weave in attacks, or keep pressure on targets get the most from it. It is much less impressive when you expect it to carry your lane sustain through minion waves alone. Riot’s current rules make that clear.

It is also worth noting that omnivamp is still a niche stat. Only a small number of current items offer it, so you usually build around it on purpose rather than picking it up by accident. That makes item choice more important than before.

    All items with omnivamp

Omnivamp is not common in the current item pool, so the list is short. That helps players track it more easily, and it also makes each omnivamp item more specialized.

    Hextech Gunblade

No separate named passive tied to omnivamp

Lightning Bolt: Deals magic damage and slows the target for 1.5 seconds

    Summoner’s Rift and Arena

Riot introduced Endless Hunger to give AD caster fighters a real sustain option again. Hextech Gunblade also returned this season as a hybrid damage item with omnivamp and a targeted active. Doran’s Blade remains the early-game option, but it is clearly a lane starter and not a full build centerpiece.

Which champions benefit most from omnivamp?

Omnivamp usually fits champions that do not rely on basic attacks alone. AD caster fighters are a strong example, which is why Endless Hunger was designed for that space. Hybrid users can also get value from Hextech Gunblade because it combines attack damage, ability power, and sustain in one slot.

For most players, the key is not to overrate the stat. Omnivamp can be very useful, but it works best when your champion’s damage pattern matches it. If your kit deals repeated spell damage in real fights, the stat can feel great.

When I’m not behind the keyboard, I’m watching Galatasaray, following the NBA, or pretending I’m still good at basketball. I also work full-time at AnyDesk, writing serious things in not-so-serious ways.
