The long-awaited Fortnite Superman update has officially arrived in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3: Super. From unlocking Superman’s iconic outfit to soaring across the Island with Kryptonian powers, this update is a must-play for fans of both Fortnite and DC Comics. 

In this Fortnite guide, we’ll cover everything about the Superman update: release date, how to unlock his skin and powers, plus new modes, DC characters, weapons, and the Fortress of Solitude.

When did the first Fortnite Superman update launch?

The Superman Fortnite update went live on July 11, 2025, kicking off a major crossover event as part of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3. With it comes new gameplay mechanics, limited-time items, and themed quests centered around the Man of Steel.

Superman’s powers are now in Battle Royale

The Fortnite Superman update introduces a new item: Superman’s Call Crystal. Spawned randomly in Battle Royale and Zero Build matches, the first player to find it will gain:

• Flight: Soar above your enemies
• Heat Vision: Destroy structures with ease
• Super Strength: Dominate close-range combat

If the Superman-powered player is eliminated, they’ll lose the powers and return to standard gameplay via a Rift.

How to unlock Superman in Fortnite

To unlock the Fortnite Superman skin, players must own the Super Battle Pass and earn 12 Account Levels starting July 11. This will grant access to the base Superman Outfit. Additional cosmetics can be unlocked by continuing to level up.

• Daily Flight Glider
• Super Cape Back Bling
• Crystal Smasher Pickaxe
• Super Save Emote
• Pen & Ink Style (inspired by DC artist Jim Lee)

All rewards are available until August 8, 2025, the end of Season 3.

New location: Fortress of Solitude

On July 15, players can explore Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, now located on the Island. This frozen stronghold from the comics acts as a sanctuary where players can exchange Bars for helpful services, items, and gear.

More DC characters in Fortnite

As part of the superhero theme, new DC characters are also arriving in the Fortnite Item Shop:

• Mister Terrific Outfit: Available July 10 at 8 PM ET
• Engineer (DC) Outfit: Released at the same time

Expect more hero (and villain) outfits to rotate in as the season progresses.

When does the Superman Event end?

The Superman quests and cosmetics will be available until the end of Chapter 6 Season 3, which runs through August 8, 2025. Be sure to unlock everything before the event concludes!

New modes and events in the Fortnite Superman 36.20 update

With patch update 36.20, Epic Games has added more than just Superman. Players can now jump into:

• Blitz Royale Mode: A faster-paced version of standard BR
• Boom Bonanza Event: Complete explosive challenges for special rewards
• Gameplay improvements & bug fixes: Expect a smoother experience and several resolved issues

Academy Tech Labs: New exotic weapons

Alongside Superman, the latest update expands Academy Tech Labs, giving players access to powerful new weapons and gadgets:

• Unstable Bounce Grenade: Explodes on every bounce
• Unstable Thunderclap DMR: Fires an explosive round every third shot
