The new Minecraft capes revealed for TwitchCon 2026 are already becoming some of the most talked-about cosmetics in the game. Mojang officially introduced two new capes — the Crafter Cape and the Builder Cape — as part of Minecraft’s TwitchCon Rotterdam celebration. These capes are tied to both in-person and online events, giving more players a chance to unlock exclusive cosmetics.

For years, Minecraft capes have been extremely rare. Older capes were often linked to MineCon attendance, special promotions, or limited community events. Because of that, every new cape release instantly creates hype across the Minecraft community.

Here is everything you need to know about the new Minecraft capes, including how to unlock them, redemption rules, activities, and why these capes are important for collectors.

What are the new Minecraft Capes?

Mojang announced two exclusive capes for TwitchCon 2026:

    • Builder Cape earned online through Minecraft LIVE

The official Minecraft TwitchCon page confirmed that attendees can unlock an “exclusive in-game code” by participating in Minecraft activities throughout the event.

The Builder Cape was later teased for players watching remotely, making this one of the first major Minecraft cape events designed for both physical and online participation.

How to get the Minecraft Crafter Cape

The Crafter Cape is the main TwitchCon Rotterdam reward. Players attending the event in person must complete a special activity quest to earn it.

Unlike older MineCon capes that were simply handed out, Mojang turned this cape into a real event challenge.

Step 1: Get the Inventory Ribbon

First, attendees must collect an Inventory Ribbon near TwitchCon badge pickup.

The ribbon attaches to the attendee badge and contains three empty slots for Emerald Stickers. Players need to fill all three slots to qualify for the cape reward.

    Important details:

    • One ribbon per attendee
    • The ribbon must stay attached to the badge
    • Losing the ribbon may prevent redemption

The system is designed to feel like a real-life Minecraft inventory quest.

    Step 2: Collect Emerald Stickers

Players need to collect three Emerald Stickers by participating in Minecraft-themed sessions and activities across TwitchCon.

According to Mojang, there are multiple ways to earn stickers.

Minecraft sessions that give Emerald stickers

Several creator and community panels reward Emerald Stickers.

    Confirmed sessions include:

    • The Midoffs LIVE presented by Tubbo
    • Skyblock Kingdoms SMP
    • Crafting a Character
    • Minecraft LIVE
    • The Non-Competitive Competitive Format of Minecraft Events
    • Bannerfall SMP
    • Couriway’s 10,000th Speedrun Live
    • Lifesteal SMP
    • Gridlock: The Next Step in Minecraft Esports
    • The Minecraft Gauntlet

These panels focus on Minecraft creators, SMP servers, esports, speedrunning, and community storytelling.

Minecraft activities that give Emerald stickers

Players can also earn stickers through Minecraft Arena activities.

    Some confirmed activities include:

    • Sulfur Slide
    • Chicken Jockey challenge
    • Game Over photo experience
    • Dungeons 2 Note Block Challenge
    • Dungeons gameplay stations
    • Chicken Farm gameplay area

Mojang confirmed that players only receive one sticker per activity or session, meaning repeating the same activity does not count.

Step 3: Redeem the Crafter Cape

After collecting three Emerald Stickers, players must visit the Cape Trader in the Minecraft Village area.

    Staff members will:

    1. Check the completed ribbon
    2. Scan the attendee wristband
    3. Give the player a physical Cape Card
    4. Provide a unique redemption code

The code must then be redeemed through Minecraft’s official redemption system.

Players should redeem the code immediately to avoid missing the deadline.

How to get the Minecraft Builder Cape

The second of the new Minecraft capes is the Builder Cape.

This cape is designed for players who cannot attend TwitchCon physically. Mojang confirmed that online viewers watching Minecraft LIVE will have a chance to unlock it.

    • Watch Minecraft LIVE on May 30, 2026
    • Time:
      • 11:30 AM EDT
      • 5:30 PM CEST
    • Official stream: Minecraft LIVE

Mojang will reveal the exact unlock method during the livestream.

This is a major improvement over older event capes, which were often locked behind expensive travel and ticket costs.

Will the new Minecraft capes become rare?

    Most likely, yes.

Even though Mojang has not announced a hard limit for distribution, event capes naturally become rare over time because:

    • Some players miss redemption deadlines
    • Many future players will never have access
    • Event participation is still limited
    • Capes are permanently tied to accounts

Previous capes, including MineCon capes and special Twitch rewards, eventually became highly recognizable inside multiplayer servers.
