Hytale Fragments allow players to access special instanced realms that exist outside the main world of Orbis. These realms contain unique biomes, enemies, resources, and challenges that cannot be found anywhere else.

What are Fragments in Hytale?

Hytale Fragments are consumable keys used to activate an Ancient Gateway. When a Fragment is inserted into a Gateway, it opens a portal to a specific realm. Each Fragment corresponds to one realm, and once used, the Fragment is permanently consumed.

Fragment realms are:

• Separate from the main overworld
• Time-limited
• Designed for focused exploration and combat
• Filled with rare materials and powerful enemies

Fragments are not decorative or optional items. They are a core mechanic meant to push players into harder content and reward preparation and skill.

How to unlock Fragments in Hytale

You cannot craft or use Fragments in Hytale immediately. You first need to:

• Unlock the Memories System: The first requirement is unlocking the Memories system. This is done by discovering the Forgotten Temple and interacting with the Memory structure inside it. Once unlocked, the game begins tracking creatures, locations, and discoveries as Memories.

• Collect 100 unique Memories: To unlock Fragment-related crafting, you must record 100 different Memories. This requires broad exploration across multiple biomes and encounters. Only unique Memories count. Farming the same enemy repeatedly will not help.

• Craft the Arcanist’s Workbench: Fragments and the Ancient Gateway can only be crafted at the Arcanist’s Workbench. This is a late-game crafting station tied directly to magical and dimensional content. Once this workbench is available, Fragment crafting becomes accessible.

How to craft Fragments in Hytale

Each Hytale Fragment has its own recipe and opens a specific realm. These realms are generated specifically for that visit and collapse once the timer ends. When time runs out, the player is automatically returned to Orbis.

All Fragments are crafted at the Arcanist’s Workbench and are single-use items.

Get the Ancient Gateway before using Fragments

The Ancient Gateway is a reusable structure that activates Fragment portals. To craft the Ancient Gateway:

• Cobblestone ×30
• Thorium Ingot ×10
• Essence of Life ×10
• Essence of the Void ×10

The Gateway remains inactive until a Fragment is inserted.

How to use Hytale Fragments

To use Fragments in Hytale:

1. Place the Ancient Gateway on solid ground
2. Select a Fragment from your inventory
3. Insert the Fragment into the Gateway
4. Enter the portal before it closes

Once activated, the Fragment is consumed, and the realm timer begins immediately.

Becareful about the time limit

All Fragment realms have a strict time limit:

• Dragonspire Weald Fragment: 7 minutes
• The Dread Wade Fragment: 7 minutes
• Windrider Valley Fragment: 6 minutes
