Every map in VALORANT is unique and the same goes for the whole VALORANT agent roster. Keeping that in mind, there are favorable agent picks on each map. Some characters simply have a better outplay potential to be better on a map than their counterparts. Such agents are often ideal picks for a map.

Whether you are here to find good VALORANT agents for beginners or the best maps for each agent VALORANT has, these are the best agents for every map VALORANT has to offer.

Best agents for Haven in VALORANT

Haven VALORANT
Haven VALORANT

Haven was the original triple-Spike site map, and is arguably the staple map of VALORANT, and the staple agent of VALORANT is coincidentally a great pick on the map. As a Duelist, Jett excels due to the lack of ceiling on Haven, and being able to exploit the low walls around the map.

Sova and KAY/O are also very good at this with their long range scouting abilities, they’re definitely the Initiators of choice on Haven!

For a Controller, you’d want to pick up Omen. He can easily move about the map, with his Shrouded Step teleport and use his Ultimate, From The Shadows, to rotate to any of the three Spike sites.

Speaking of the Spike sites, they are set up with very narrow entryways, so a Sentinel like Killjoy is a perfect pick for when you are defending or in a post-plant situation. She can place her setup on any site and hold it by herself!

Best agents for Breeze in VALORANT

Breeze VALORANT
Breeze VALORANT

Breeze is the largest map in the game, but similarly to Haven, it also has no ceiling, and is relatively small vertically. That is why once again Jett excels on the rather large VALORANT map. She is one of the best agents for using a sniper in VALORANT, especially with her passive ability, Drift, and her Updraft. She can perfectly pick off an enemy with an Operator from an unexpecting angle!

Sova and KAY/O dominate as Initiators on Breeze for the same reason they do on Haven - they can fire their utility and recon abilities across the whole map! Initiators like Skye and Fade lack the range to match against Sova and KAY/O.

Viper is hands down the supreme Controller on Breeze, with her wall, Toxic Screen, and Ultimate, Viper’s Pit, that covers a large area. This works amazingly well because of how open the Spike sites are on Breeze, and how little cover they provide.

This is also why Chamber excels. He can pick off an enemy, then safely teleport back into cover with his Rendezvous. This means that whilst other agents need to play around cover, he can expose himself and avoid getting traded! **

Best agents for Ascent in VALORANT

Ascent VALORANT
Ascent VALORANT

For Ascent, our Duelists of choice are Raze, and once again Jett. Raze and Jett both have a lot of mobility and Ascent as a map is tiered, going from B site to A site is a climb, and these two Duelists can avoid all of the heightened walls.

Sova is the only other agent on this list alongside Jett to have made every map thus far, and that doesn’t stop with Ascent. He just edges out KAY/O due to his insane verticality with his Recon Bolt and Shock Bolt. The Russian agent can fire his abilities easily over every wall on Ascent, scouting out backsites or potential avenues of attack!

Omen also loves the verticality of Ascent, as he, like Jett and Raze, can abuse his Shrouded Step to rotate faster than most other agents!

Killjoy rounds off the dream team on Ascent, as she can comfortably hold either site by herself when defending and stall until her team can rotate!

Best agents for Bind in VALORANT

Bind VALORANT
Bind VALORANT

The first map on this list not to feature Jett or Sova. We think that Raze, Viper, Brimstone, Skye and Cypher are ideal picks!

Brimstone is one of the best VALORANT agents for beginners, and he is very viable on Bind. He can smoke off both spike sites at once and control the map from anywhere. Viper as a secondary Controller is very good at blocking vision to allow pushes onto either site as well.

Skye, Raze and Cypher all love the tight angles of Bind, meaning that they can scout out and kill enemies with ease with the element of surprise! Skye's recon abilities paired with an open skybox is ideal for her flashes. As for Cypher, there are some great setups for his utility and fantastic spots to place his camera to keep an eye on the enemy team.

Best agents for Fracture in VALORANT

Fracture VALORANT
Fracture VALORANT

Similarly to Bind, Fracture is a very tight map, with a lot of close corners. This is why Raze, Brimstone and Viper are once again on this list.

The new additions are Neon and Breach, both of whom can take advantage of the extensive cover! The speedster Duelist herself can slide in, get a kill and sprint out, whilst Breach excels at using the cover to abuse his utility! A Breach and Neon combo is deadly on Fracture and you can definitely see a lot of teams using the duo to their advantage.

Best agents for Icebox in VALORANT

Icebox VALORANT
Icebox VALORANT

The staple agent for Icebox is Sage. She can use her wall, Barrier Orb, to wall off any of the tight chokepoints onto either site and make enemies lives a nightmare. She is also vital in walling off certain portions of Spike sites on attack to provide a safe cover to plant the Spike.

Viper does similar things with her large utility abilities, really slowing down pushes and limiting line of sight for the enemy team.

Jett, Omen, and Sova are back on the list for Icebox, and whilst the first two are great at utilizing their mobility on the vertically dominant map, Sova can use his long range scouting abilities to scout anywhere on one of the biggest maps in VALORANT!

Best agents for Split in VALORANT

Split VALORANT
Split VALORANT

Split is a very small map, but the most vertically challenging, which is why Raze makes it in alongside Omen instead of Jett. Raze has more vertical mobility, compared to Jett’s horizontal prowess. However, we have also seen a rise in the use of Astra. Her Gravity Well paired with ability to smoke anywhere on the map sees her be one of the top picks.

Split heavily revolves around controlling the Mid area. Sage can wall that part off, forcing the attackers to destroy it and making their lives more difficult. Meanwhile, Breach can stop a push up Mid with his utility. Killjoy can also do a similar thing, but we suggest setting up on a Spike site as Killjoy to unlock her full potential.

Best agents for Pearl VALORANT

Pearl VALORANT
Pearl VALORANT

The penultimate map on this list, Pearl features two agents who are yet to debut on this list. Those are the likes of Astra and Fade. They can both take advantage of the map size in different ways.

Astra is the greatest Controller pick to dominate the broad map, whilst Fade’s quick utility can abuse the fast-paced nature of gameplay on the map!

Killjoy can once again stop an enemy push, as each site only has two entryways, whilst KAY/O can scout out enemies on the longer parts of the map, suppressing them and forcing a push. Pearl is a large map, so Jett’s horizontal mobility excels at rotating!

Best agents for Lotus VALORANT

Lotus VALORANT
Lotus VALORANT

A tight map with three sites. Sounds like a dream for Omen! He can teleport around the Lotus, all whilst providing cover for himself and his team. Raze loves the tight spike sites to abuse her AOE abilities too!

KAY/O is in a similar boat to Raze, as he can scout out every enemy on a spike site, whilst locking them all down with his Ultimate, NULL/CMD. Neon loves to dash in, get a kill, and dash out again, which Lotus spike sites are all about.

For a Sentinel, we love Killjoy. She can stop pushes from various angles on each site, meaning a safe setup is the perfect way to play her on Lotus.

Alternately, a double-Controller agent composition may be a viable option, especially on defense. A Viper and Harbor combination has been on the rise. Both agents have an array of vision blocking abilities that are perfect for cutting off choke points and alleyways found on Lotus.

The Best Agents For New Players in VALORANT

The best agents for new players are ones that provide enough value to their team for players who aren't as experienced in the game. They also need to be super easy to pick up and play with immediately. These include:

  • Sage
  • Brimstone
  • Phoenix
  • Reyna

The Best Sniper Agents in VALORANT

We touched on this earlier, but there are two key picks if you love sniping with the Operator sniper rifle. Whether you have come over from CS:GO using an AWP all day, or want to just hit the montage shots, we recommend both Jett and Chamber! Both agents can get out of danger immediately and are currently the only characters that really warrant using an aggressive style of wielding the Operator.

They are both very good at hovering out in the open, getting the first sniper kill, with either an Operator, or Chamber's ultimate, Tour De Force, and then immediately getting back into safety.

The Best Shotgun Agents in VALORANT

If you prefer a hands on approach and just want to blast your enemies to death with a Judge, Bucky, or Shorty, these agents are the ideal agents for that.

  • Raze
  • Reyna
  • Neon
  • Viper
  • Omen

Raze, Reyna, and Neon love getting in your face, and can use their mobility to get right up close to you before you can land a bullet, but Viper's niche is different. She can sit in her ultimate, Viper's Pit, and lurk with a shotgun. Omen may also be a good choice. His Dark Cover smokes, the ability to teleport, and blind using his Paranoia, may be the ideal tools to wield a shotgun in VALORANT effectively.

Ultimately, remember that while some VALORANT agents are better picks for a specific map, it all comes down to how you use your abilities and if you're able to win aim duels. Selecting a "meta" agent on a map never guarantess victory. Make sure to try to have a wide agent pool so that you can fit perfectly on any map!
