Everything You Need to Know About Vex in League of Legends
Vex is a great anti-assassin, so if you're getting dived by Zed and Katarinas all the time, then maybe Vex is a great pickup for you. Here is everything you need to know about Vex in League of Legends!
A champion who thrives when her enemies like to dive on her, Vex is also great at returning fire and one-shotting her lane opponent as well. Although she's one of the more simple champions that Riot Games have released over the past few years, it doesn't make her any less powerful in League of Legends.
So if you want a Mid Laner that has great wave clear, poke, and all-in, then Vex might just be the gloomy Yordle for you!
Vex’s abilities in League of Legends
Passive: Doom ‘n Gloom

Vex's passive has her empower her next basic ability which will fear enemies for up to 1.5 seconds as well as knocking them down. During this, the enemy will be slowed for between 60% and 99%, based on how far away they are from Vex.
Vex will mark nearby enemy champions and monsters that dash or blink for six seconds. Her next basic attack or basic ability she hits against the enemy will detonate this mark.
When the mark detonates, it will deal up to 140 Magic Damage plus 20% of her AP and it also refunds 25% of this cooldown - which is 8 seconds at the maximum level.
Q: Mistral Bolt

Vex launches out wave of mist in whatever direction she chooses, which deals Magic Damage to any enemies it hits. This is equal to 240 at level five, as well as 70% of Vex;s AP.
After travelling 500 of the 1200 units the wave gets faster but also becomes narrower. This is a great tool for poking enemies in lane, as there is no damage reduction through hitting minions prior to enemy champions.
W: Personal Space

Vex releases a large shockwave around her, dealing 240 magic damage plus 30% of her AP, and giving herself a shield for 2.5 seconds. Personal Space shield is worth 50-150 (based on level) damage.
The shield is worth 150 damage, and also scales with 75% of Vex’s Ability Power too. The best way to use this ability is defensively, as it instantly fears enemies that get to close - so fear that Zed when he jumps on you!
E: Looming Darkness

Vex launches her shadow to explode in a large circle at her chosen target location, which Deals magic damage to any enemies it hits of up to 130 plus 60% of her AP.
It also slows enemies for up to 50% at its max level, and the explosion radius is increased the further away Vex casts Looming Darkness from her character model.
R: Shadow Surge

Vex throws her shadow in a straight line up to 3000 units, which grants vision along the path and deals 50/75/100 (+ 20% AP) Magic Damage. Shadow Surge dash deals 150/250/350 (+ 50% AP) magic damage.
The shadow will stop when it hits an enemy champion and marks them for seven seconds. This reveals them and allows Vex to recast Shadow Surge.
When recasting this ability, Vex dashes to the marked target, becoming unstoppable and dealing magic damage of up to 350 plus 50% of her AP when she lands.
If the marked enemy champion dies within six seconds of being marked, then Vex can cast this ability again within 12 seconds, which is infinitely repeatable!
When was Vex released in League of Legends?

Vex was released just as the League of Legends World Championships of Season 11 was kicking off. This was in Patch 11.19 on September 22, 2021.
Her release skin was Dawnbringer Vex which came alongside one of the follow-up installments of the Chaos and Order skin line, which contains the Dawnbringer and Nightbringer skins.
Where is Vex from in League of Legends?

Whilst Yordles typically have a relatively tame background and lore, Vex has a slightly interesting take on it. Like most Yordles, Vex was born in Bandle City, but she currently resides in The Shadow Isles. We think this is a much more fitting place for a character of her theme!
Vex’s Age in League of Legends

Due to the mysterious nature of Bandle City appearing anywhere across Runeterra at any given time, we actually have no idea about Vex's age or when she was born in the League of Legends lore.
Whilst she gives off childish impressions and childlike vibes, Most Yordles do something similar, especially with the likes of Gnar, Corki and Tristana, so we really have no clue how old Vex is in League of Legends!
Vex’s Voice Actor in League of Legends

The voice actress for Vex is Jeannie Tirado, who also is the voice actress for Cithria of Cloudfield in Legends of Runeterra.
She has also been in multiple TV shows and other games titles, such as Lost Ark, Diablo Immortal, and even Far Cry 6.
Is Vex a male or a female?
Vex is a female champion. She is a yordle who looks and sounds like a gloomy teenage girl. Riot confirmed her gender through her voice lines, story, and design. She uses “she” and “her” in all official content.
Vex does not act like most other yordles. She avoids fun, color, and happiness. She likes dark places and speaks with a bored tone. Even with her cold style, Riot made her identity clear from the start. She is a female character in both voice and lore.
How is Vex related to Viego?
Vex joined Viego during the events of the Ruination. She liked the idea of spreading sadness and helped him bring the Black Mist to Runeterra. She used her power to help his plans grow stronger.
But once she saw that Viego only wanted to bring back his dead wife, she lost interest. She thought his goal was foolish. She walked away from him, not because they fought, but because she no longer cared.
Vex and Viego were never close. She helped him for a while but never shared his true purpose. Their connection ended when Vex chose to go back to her own quiet world.
Vex is a great champion in League of Legends ,but maybe a mage of her style isn't for you. Whilst she is fundamentally a Mid Laner, we have a load of other guides for any other role in League of Legends!
